Mental health assistance and help in crisis situations

Finnish Association for Mental Health has 40 years experience in crisis assistance. This experience and various forms of assistance are put to use at the SOS Crisis Centre in Helsinki. All crisis assistance and rehabilitation to promote people's capacity to cope and prevent social exclusion, mental health problems as well as suicides take place at the Centre.

Support and help in crises situations


The SOS Crisis Centre coordinates the crises helpline and receives clients for short-term counselling. It also seeks to chart the clients´ needs for further assistance or rehabilitation. The Centre organizes services for immigrants and their families. Crisis service for foreigners is open on weekdays 9.00-15.00. Please call (09) 4135 0501. The SOS Crises Center also coordinates crime victim assistance services in the Uusimaa province in Southern Finland.

Rehabilitation courses


The SOS Crisis Centre organizes rehabilitation courses for those who have experienced difficult life crises. It also organizers support group “Find your own story” for young adults (18-29 years of age) in similar life situations. The aim of the courses is to support one’s own survival and prevent exclusion and mental health problems. The courses are professionally guided peer-to-peer activities.
